One word has always surfaced among talk of Chicago industrial real estate: KRITT And now three words - Camins Tomasz Kritt - accompany any conversation covering both industrial real estate and office tenant representation. Bill Kritt founded William Kritt & Co. in 1964. Establishing a vast knowledge of Chicago's changing neighborhoods, Kritt & Co. operated from the Chicago Loop for 19 years. It relocated to 1000 North Milwaukee Avenue in 1983 and remained there for 18 years. Bill Kritt sold the company in 2001 but remained involved with the business as Chairman of the Executive Committee until his passing in 2005. The company was purchased by two of Chicago real estate's most distinguished names: Harvey Camins, a founding partner of Frain Camins & Swartchild, and Michael Tomasz, a founder of First Industrial Realty Trust. Recognizing the company's powerful franchise, Camins and Tomasz aimed to continue its reputation as the undisputed leader in Chicago industrial real estate. They also changed the name to complement a Chicago institution with the broad relationships and widened areas of service developed through their prolific careers. They set out to serve an additional clientele - those large organizations controlling the sizable Chicago properties - and increase the company's roster of in-city specialists. Their inspired vision also paired the city's only industrial brokerage firm focusing exclusively on Chicago with a full-service office tenant representation group concentrating on the Central Business District.
